Thing is this game never released outside of Japan and China. The game was meant to come out in the US and EU, but by the time this game came out in Japan in early 2000, the N64 was becoming Old hat and the DreamCast was already out, so an international release of the game got scraped.

The game is a third person on-rails shooter with a simerlar feel to the arcade and SNES game "Wild Guns".

You move a cross hair on the screen and shoot, however you get the freedom to strife to avoid enemy attack. So this Evening I've been playing a little bit of Pokemon Pearl with Nick playing Diamond, and holy crap I remember the tedious amount of text you gotta read at the beginning, not to mention that you start off walking really damn slow like a snail. After 30 mins of snail racing, I finally get to finish the tedious cut scene, get the running shoes and start off the adventure. Seriously... though, I know that there's cutscenes with text in it, but it's not FinalFantasy VII or Animal Crossing text heavy, I mean come on Nintendo, this proves that European localisation sucks big time, I know localising is the worst job EVER in the games industry, but come on... are the translators spending too much time showing off their Language degrees in a Starbucks basement drinking freaking frapechinos and writing a word a day! Ian didn't get a game on launch day! Well, it wasn't my fault. the problem is that I did preorder the damn game on gameplay.com and they sent it off, yet I have yet to see it come to my door... Usually I would get games either on the day or even the day before, so how come I haven't received it yet? Well I'm blaming Royal Mail on this because I have contacted Gameplay and they said that they have sent the game out, so this means that Royal Mail has either stolen, lost or destroyed my game without mentioning anything about it. So yesterday I went to town and bought the game because I was so pissed off about the delivery.

Talking about Wario Ware though, it's freaking awesome, and I love it's overly crazy and obscure style. So I'll be there armed with my Camera to get some Nintendo fanboys and girls and post them on my website.

See you in a few hours then!

WII........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow, Wii day!

Yup Today is the last Wii-less day, and tomorrow is going to rock as hard as Tenasious D with the pick of destiny!

Anyways, Last night I made some space on my shelf to put my new shiny Wii onto, and found the drawing I had on my shelf the "Reserve" Space for my Gamecube back 4 or 5 years ago, lol, anyways, looks like the GameCube will be sitting next to it's little Brother, the Wii.

So, tomorrow, look for the next blog entry and possibly podcast too!

2 days left!!!!!

Yup very close now! BUt hey I forgot to do yesterday's blog... So what am I going to talk about. Well as I have been talking about GameCube games. Maybe I should finalise this and tell you about the Creme de Creme of Gamecube games...

Awsome GameCube Games!

Viewtiful Joe

Who's Red, got a pink cape, and who looks awsome wearing it?! It's VJ of course! Viewtiful Joe brings back side scolling platforming and fighting to a new level with aswome cel shading and an art style that not quite manga but then not quite American Comic either. Joe is a movie addict who seems to take his girlfriend, Silvia, to the cinema to watch Power Ranger(Sentai)-eque movies. Whilst Siliva tries her best to bring the sex appeal back into their realitionship, Joe ignores her and watches his favourite Sentai film, Captain Blue. Whilst this happens the movie chages slightly and Siliva is grabbed by the villian in the big screen, and Joe end up getting caught inside too. And discover that he becomes the next best thing to Sentai, Viewtiful.

So why is this an awsome game, as well it's fantasticly crazy story, the gameplay is one of the main elements over the plot and the graphics. Because you're stuck in a movie you can slow and speed the film up, allowing you to execute crazy moves. Whilst a Zoom in and out function allows you to pull off a pose before delivering the final blow to the enemy. Mastering these techniques will earn you heeps of points and will feel seriosly awarded when you can earn new moves that you have bought with the points early in the game.

Not just gameplay, but there's a serious ammount of charm, and crazy characters in the game. Plus it has by far one of the hardest bosses in the DC/PS2/GCN/XBox generation, Fire Leo, that requires some seriously good timeing to dodge those crazy fireballs. Pretty Much I reccomend this game to anyone who want to play something different and/or loves any of the old school style side scrooling platforming games; Super Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Strider, etc...

Super Monkey Ball

Well back, before the GameCube had launched, I saw this game on the internet and really didn't give it much attension. I did exactually what a lot of morons do, judge games by it's cover and looks. Even when I saw it at my local import store, I didn't care about it. But one day after I got my GameCube I saw this game in a shop for a descent price, about £20 I think, took it home and realised how much of a freaking moron I was to disbelieve that this game was awsome. To imagine that this game being so simple is so good, I was instantly hooked. If you have a GameCube and you don't own this game, I'm going to ask you why not?! The reason why I'm getting the new Wii sequel is because Monkey ball is one of those fantastic games you find yourself playing quite a lot.

So those who don't have a clue what this game this... It's simply a Maze game, you got to get from A to B within a time limit, and without falling off the maze. Simply you just push the control stick in the direction you want to move, and thats pretty much it. No complex controls, just all done on the control stick. So what actually makes the game fun then? Well there's a lot of levels, something around 40 or so in the first game, and more in Monkey Ball 2 that are designed really well and can get increbilly challenging. This is defiently a must buy if you own a Gamecube or have just bought a Wii!

Animal Crossing

One of the pinnicle games for the GameCube to date, the fantastic little life/commnuty sim, Animal Crossing. Before I played this game, I had owned a game called the Sims, and oh my, I discovered how it can become easily boring after a while; your little bloke get the best paid job, despite earning loads and barely do anything in his spare time, and I pretty much kept repeating this perticually rotine over and over again until I got seriously bored and sold the god damn freaking game to eBay!

Then this game appeared, I first heard about it being called "Animal Forrest" in Japan that was launched on the N64. It was meant to be launched on the 64DD but was canceled for the disk release and was launched on cartridge instead. It appeared in the western world on the Gamecube, being a port of the N64 game, but offering some extra stuff.

How do you play this game? Well you play as a boy or girl who move away from home to live in a small town situated in a little forest, and next to the coast. And pretty much you live out your life as a villager as you talk to neighbors, run errands, go fishing and dig up treasure. But unlike the Sims there's no "Hunger/Bladder/Social/Sleep" bar, you can do what YOU WANT TO DO, not what the game tells you hat to do! This is something really refreshing to anyone who have played the Sims or any kind of life simulation game and is great fun to play. A must have for any GameCube and newly Wii owners.

Super Smash Brothers Melee

Well, if you want a game that delivers that extra piece of "Pure... PWN-idge", this IS the game. I remember back in the day this game had some serious hype to it; and well, it defiently delivered that hype! As we wait for the next game to appear with the introduction of Snake and possibly other Konami characters. I might as well mention the sheer awsomeness that is, Super Smash Brothers Melee!

A sequel of the great Super Smash Brothers on the N64, the Gamecube game added the cream and the cherry on top by delivering additional characters such as Ganondorf, Ice Climbers and Dr Mario, made the game even more fast paced then the original, and gave previous charaters extra moves to show off. To top it off, the game included new modes such as the All Star mode, the Trophy gallery, Sand Bag mini game, and the insane Multi Man melee modes. If you liked the N64 game, this is a pure drool fest!

Again, in my pledge to gamers, if you own a GameCube or just got a Wii, BUY THIS GAME! It's a freaking compulsory buy! You need SSBM in you collection now! Don't rent it, buy it! I know you will love this game!

4 days left now!

Wow, really close now, and I can't wait. Just a quick Blog today, so no GCN game reviews today.

Just a quick mention that Nintendo is updating their Virtual Console games with bug fixes and additional content such as Maps and Guides: Such as a World Map for the Legend of Zelda.

Click here for Article from WiiSpot

Talking about Virtual Console Games; I have worked out what games to download, and I will be using all my 2000 points (from the card I'm getting) without leaving any small remains of points.

Bonk's Adventure (600 Points)

BomberMan '93 (600 Points)

DonkeyKong Country (800 Points)

So yeah, that make 2000 Points if you're stupid and can't do the maths, lol.

Recently I#ve been playing around with this flash application that matches (or at least tries to) the Mii channel. Pretty Sweet huh? Thing is I've been told that the actual Mii Channel on the Wii is much better then the Flash app. But hey, not long now!

hmm... so close...

Well, it'll be Friday soon, and I can't wait. but as I missed a day, because Nick invited himself round my house to use my PC for Internet access for about 6+ hours. Let me continue with my Lists of GameCube Games...

Underrated GameCube Games

Killer7

Killer7 was one of those games that was highly overlooked because the media simply hated the fact that it wasn't an FPS like everyone thought it was going to be. Instead the game was a Myst-eque "Running on rails" adventure title that people thought sucked and people ignored. However for those who gave up in the first hour of the game missed out on possibly the best plot and story to any game in the DC/PS2/GCN/XBox generation close to Shenmue. Why? because I love this obscure and twisted crap you come across now and again; 5 years ago I watch Akira and I was bewildered big time by the sheer craziness, and watching it again several times, watching The Matrix and other strange stuff made me kinda like the obscure genre.

Moving on, what is Killer7? in the close future, the United Nations get more countries in and eventually create peace treaties to so many countries that the countries around the world gave up their long range missiles and nukes as an act of displaying peace. However in the background something bad is happening and a plot to take over the United States takes place and the Special organisation Killer7 is sent out to find out what's going on.

So how do you play this game? Well it's not you're typical Shoot'em'up as I said. You use the A button to run forwards and the B button to turn around, the Analog stick is used for when you get to an area where the "rail" would fork out. Holding the R trigger puts you into into the first person mode for "Aim" mode to shoot enemies, and the L trigger is used to scan for invisible enemies, and flicking the C stick reloads your gun.

Talking about invisible enemies, you fight these freaky exploding zombie creatures called the Heaven Smile, you can't see them at first unless you use the scanner, then it'll start to walk/run/limp/crawl towards you where they'll try to blow you up in a kind of suicide bomber style. You got 2 ways of killing them, keep shooting them until the die, or finding an off coloured spot on their body and shoot it for an instant kill. By doing this you can acquire two different types of blood, if you just kill the Heaven Smile by pumping it with bullets you get Thin blood, which can be used to replenish health. Whilst shooting the weak spot earns you thick blood that works a bit like experience points, by going up to TVs you can select any of the Killer7 who you wish to upgrade, and make them faster, improve their reload time, and make their firearms more powerful.

So, why do I love this game, the story. I wont spoil the plot to you but if you like stuff like Fight Club, this is the video game version, yeah I know there's a Fight Club game but the amount insecurity, trying to find out what going, and the climactic ending creates one of the best stories in a game since FinalFantasy VII, Zelda Ocarina of Time and Metal Gear Solid. It's a shame that people put this game down because they wanted the game to be more of the FPS, but it's more then just Shoot'em'up and more of an adventure title on the lines of Myst and Blade Runner. If you're the type who loves anything weird and/or Adventure games with unique twists, I highly Reccomend you to pick it up!

Ikaruga

In and age where if you ask someone for a list of their favourite "Shoot'em'ups", their more likely to give a hige list of FPS games... However if you were to ask me the same thing I'd reply with something like this...

Super RType

Gradius V

Metal Slug

And more importantly Ikaruga!

Pretty much the reason why Ikaruga isn't exactly on everybody's favourite list is because of the over saturation of repeated FPS there are and has pretty much killed the kind the Shoot'em'ups that I once loved.

So what's Ikaruga? Well in a distant future, a war is broken out between an empire and small sets of guerrilla organisations over something called "Ubusunagami Okinakai" the Power of the Gods, and with the power, an Empire was created and nations fell to the Power that they had. In a bold effort to stop the empire on their power crazed rampage an organisation called Tengaku created two fighter planes, The Ikaruga and the Ginkei piloted by Shinra and Kagari. Together they would have to fight the Empire and bring back freedom.

The object of the game is well... shoot everything in sight and dodge lasers, but that isn't the only tactic. Each ship can change colour from White to Black and vise versa by tapping the A button. So what does this do? Well you'll notice that in the game there's black and white enemies and lasers. Well this is how the "Polarity" system works. If you're White and a white laser laser hits you, it doesn't harm you, and you actually earns points, however if you're white and you hit a black laser, that's when you lose a life. The same sorta thing happens when you attack enemies; it's faster to destroy a white enemy with a black laser rather then the white laser, you shoot the colour laser that your craft is; so if your craft is black, you'll shoot black lasers, and white on white mode. This brings a whole new tactic to the top down shooters and the bosses are much more interesting because you're not just trying to pump as many bullets into it as possible, you're trying to use the polarity system to your advantage.

Pretty much this game is an awsome Shoot'em'Up and shoul deserve to be on a lot of people's favourites list. You should be able to pick up this title "fairly" cheap, or if you're a Dreamcast owner you could hunt down the Japanese DC version if you have the money and time. However, if you're like me who used to play RType and Gradius you'll love this game!

One Week left! WOOT-idge!

Well Well Well, one week, so exciting! I'm going to be skipping the GameCube game thing for today and talk about what's happening tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day where Japanese Nintendo Fan Boys and girls get their Wiis. Heck yeah, I can't wait to hear how many units they sell over there because I know it'll be huge, and just like with the states they're be a close 1:1 sales ratio of selling the Wii with Zelda Twilight Princess.

Talking about Wii though, I finally got to see the packaging for the games, as they all come in white DVD boxes. I noticed a bit of a typo that was mentioned in Kotaku and Nerdblurb where it says Progressive scan only, yet states at the same time that it'll work on the standard TV modes too...

Notice that it says 50hz/60hz when it says Progressive scan only? weird... But in the US the game can be played in 480i meaning that its shouldn't be progressivescan only.

Whilst in the same store I went and preordered some more Wii Games! lol!

Yup, Wii-Play and a nunchuk unit, all great fun, plus I don't have to pay a penny until I go and get it. I don't know what to blog about, however I have an idea, since the Wii is Backward compatible with GCN games; I'll talk about some GCN games that you should go out and get. But as I could blog more in the next few days I'm going to categorise these. So what will be this Selection of GCN games be...

Weird GameCube Games

Cubivore

Imagine a world that has no humans and everything was square or cube shaped including the animals... Yup welcome to Cubivore. This game isn't just odd in style, but the fact that you go around eating other creatures legs off and spewing up square blood; you might defiantly say this game is weird indeed...

You start off as a newborn... er cubivore? as you're let into a world filled with danger and terror as you as you see other newborns that seem to be walking around doing their own business as you jump on top of them, tear a limb of, and leave to poor terrorised bugger to death. Yes, that pretty much summarises what you do in the game, find a cubivore that's weaker then you, stalk it, then eat it!!!

At the end of each level you encounter a boss that has a special limb and you have to fight it. Usually these beasts are often tougher then you and require more then just one bite to kill. You need to eat the special limb to beat the boss and when you do, your cubivore is awarded a new body part.

After every so often you'll find a mating ground that's simply a door in the shape of a heart. The object to this is that you collect heart pieces in the game, and the more heart pieces you collect the more your cubivore becomes an omega male that will attract more female cubivores, in doing so you can cross bred to get new kinds of cubivores and start that level again as a newborn, but still retaining the special limbs that it inherited from it's father.

So, is the game worth it? well if you can get it cheap preowned it's defiantly something to look out for if you're the type who like quirky games. However if realism and guns are your thing, you're looking at the wrong game big time!

Doshin the Giant

What's big and yellow, big and yellow, and... big and Yellow... Well, it's Doshin the Giant that's what. On a lone island Doshin rises from the ocean, a creature that had only been told in stories. However Doshin isn't your typical giant, he's a gentle fellow who only wants to help the islanders. However Doshin has a bit of a personalty complex, and can transform into the fearsome Jashin, a devil version of doshin that can jump up very high and can yield fireballs to scare the crap out of the islanders.

Essentially this is a god game like Populous and Black & White. You control Doshin to help out the islanders problems such as leveling out the landscape, planting tress, and providing a special ceremonial flower when islanders start to build a monument in your name. However just like with all god sims, by tapping the Z button you transform into the total bastard that's Jashin and wreck havoc when you feel like it. However turning into Jashin isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes islanders will start to slack off building the special monument. So you can mentally whip them by suddenly transforming into Jashin and then transforming back into Doshin.

There are 30 different Monuments to collect, all ranging in different designs depending on what race of islanders live in that particually village. Each islander race wears a differt colour shirt, red, blue, yellow and green. By mixing these colours in a village you can get different monuments built.

Doshin Himself will grow depending on the love or hate he devolops with the islands. When he helps out you earn hearts, and when you terrorise people you earn skulls. A ring of these appear on the screen, the more Hearts you earn the less skulls you get and when you earn skulls the less hearts you get. when you get a full circle or either hearts or skulls doshin will grow a bit and will become slightly stronger and faster.

(The Real) 9 Days until the Wii!

Well, when I thought I had my internet connection back, oh... no... randomly through-out the night I had to put up with disconnections, unstable connections when it did connect, and times where it would connect but was only able to upload. WTF! Anyways I finally got "FULL" control at about 1PM today, so yeah, 26 hours of barely been able to use the internet :(
Anyways moving onto the subject of WII!!!! I have found more Wii TV adverts, and suprizingly they're indentical to the Japanese adverts but have an English naritor instead

English Version (above)

Japanese Version (above)

Ok and here's the rest in english

And as a commercial extra treat, here's the UK advert for Wii Sports.

10... er... I mean 9 days... sorta

Ok, A bit of a mix up here, it's 1:00am and I have only got my internet connection back after it being randomly disconnected from me by my ISP, f-ing idiots... So yeah, no Internat access in my home for about 12+ hours.
Moving on...
Hmm... quite a lot of stuff to talk about. First thing first... The US have been receiving their copies of Wii Sports in Cardboard sleeves, however IGN Australia have shown off the retail PAL Wii's will have Wii Sports in a Plastic DVD box.

So yeah. We're getting a proper plastic box for our Wii Sports.

Going on the second thing, people have been trying to work out how the sensor bar works, and came to a conclusion that it emits 2 intrared beams that the IR camera on the top of the Remote picks up, and doing this, understands where it's positioned in space to the screen. And because of this people have been experimenting with IR sources such as TV remotes and sercurity beams. But here's something interesting though, Candles... of course they emit every colour in the spectrum as the flame is white, but what's interesting is that the candle is emitting InfraRed, and what suprizing is how accurte it is when a candle would shine IR in all directions rather then towards you. Anyways, to stop boring you you can watch this video, and kids... seriously, don't put candles or any flame THAT close to the TV!

And here's a crappy diagram I've made to demonstrate how the Sensor bar works.

So yeah, anyways I saw the first (or at least one of the first) Wii adverts on TV over here in the UK, it was Advertising Zelda Twilight Princess showing off how you fish and then how to sword swing. Pretty much it like those videos that Nintendo have shown before where you see someone play the game from the perpective of the screen, and it then switches back to gameplay.
And guess what I found them on Youtube!

EDIT: Oh BTW, Star Soldier, Ecco the Dolphin and Golden Axe have been added to the Virtual Console.
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://wagj.co.uk/blog/2006/11/10-er-i-mean-9-days-sorta.php' title='10... er... Recently (actually a week ago) I joined up to a new forum called "ScrewAttack.com", "Screw attack" being the final move that Samus earns in the Metroid games. Anyways, today they did a video review of the Virtual Console in general, they seem to like the Shopping Channel and how easy it is, how the games can be compatible with GCN pads and such. However Craig, the leader (or whatever you might call him), hated the fact that his downloaded version of Zelda on the NES and dark and dim.

However I heard from Yanker that the next Wii update Firmware is meant to solve this problem. Plus I don't understand Craig's problem with Save states, so ok you already have saved games in Zelda, but not all the other NES games have saved games do they? This'll come very handy when Metroid, Kid Ikarus and Castlevania comes to the Virtual Console.

12 days until the Wii

Well... what have I been up to. Woo! getting close!
Anyways The Yanker himself was kind enough to give my £10 towards my Wii, which is very nice of him indeed! Thankyou Yanks!
Last night I saw a video on Youtube of someone using the Opera Browser on the Wii, it turns out that it isn't out just yet acordding to Mitchy D and we're guessing that it's being tested out on Wii Dev kits rather then the public.
A Side note, I knew this a while ago, but Ganon is in the Twilight Princess game, I saw a pic of what Ganondorf looks like on the Wii and he's grusome then ever before. So that I won't spoil it for you guys I won't add the image I found, but if you're curious it's lurking around IGN...

Stay tuned for more info on the Wii.

14 Days until the Wii

Well, 2 weeks still the Wii is released in the UK, and... I don't have too much money. So what have I done to solve this problem? Well I tried to sell a bunch of games, DVDs and CDs on eBay. Thing is though, I only sold 7 out of the 25 or so items I put up, which sucks because I really need money. I mean, I do have a savings account, however I really don't want to touch it, and I'm only touching it if it's my final resort.

But Hey I made £70 at least, I still need another £110 to afford the console, if I get to that, that's my goal.

This is where it stands, almost half way.
